Paul
Pedigo's 25 years’ experience includes patent solicitation, validity and infringement opinions, licensing, trademarks, trade secrets, due diligence studies, litigation, client counseling, and patent and trademark portfolio management. His technical background in chemical engineering embraces biochemistry, polymers, and mechanical devices as applied in many fields, including expanded cellular products, modified-atmosphere and other packaging, nonwovens, fibers, films, hydrogels, drug delivery, cosmetics, wastewater treatment, rapid prototyping and manufacturing, and microfluidics and other nanotechnologies.
Mr. Pedigo counsels numerous emerging technology companies about leveraging intellectual property to finance growth. He has lectured on various intellectual property topics before the Biotechnology Industry Organization, the Association of University Research Parks, and the Licensing Executives Society, among others. Mr. Pedigo is especially interested in the impact on popular culture of biotechnology and nanotechnology.
Prior to joining Summa, Additon & Ashe, Mr. Pedigo worked as a partner at Alston & Bird, LLP heading the firm’s multi-office Chemical and Pharmaceutical Patent Solicitation Group. Mr. Pedigo worked as an associate and then partner with Bell, Seltzer, Park & Gibson. P.A. from 1988 until its merger with Alston & Bird in 1997. Mr. Pedigo started his legal career as an associate with Leydig, Voit & Mayer, Ltd. Prior to beginning his legal career, Mr. Pedigo worked for UOP, Inc. as a Chemical Process Engineer, specializing in petrochemical and biochemical separation operations.
