Rebecca A. Brown (Associate)
Rebecca A. Brown focuses her practice on intellectual property litigation.
Ms. Brown was a law clerk to the Honorable Eugene E. Siler, Jr. of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. During her tenure, Senior Judge Siler additionally sat by designation on the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Third, Fourth, Ninth, and Eleventh Circuits. After her clerkship, Ms. Brown served as an extern to the Honorable Robert J. Conrad, Jr. of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of North Carolina.
Prior to joining Summa, Additon & Ashe, P.A., Ms. Brown was a litigation associate at an intellectual property firm in Northern Virginia. Her experience also extends to patent prosecution. Upon graduation from law school in 2001, Ms. Brown worked in the intellectual property group of a general practice firm in Cincinnati, Ohio. She prepared and prosecuted patent applications within the United States and directed filing and prosecution of applications outside the United States in association with foreign firms. She also provided counseling relating to freedom to practice considerations, patent infringement, and patent validity. While completing her M.B.A., Ms. Brown was an intern at the University of Cincinnati’s Intellectual Property Office. In this position, she worked with university inventors to assess the commercial potential of their inventions and develop patent prosecution and licensing recommendations.
